Last week, I mentioned another set of 4 journals I’d made, and here they are.

I’ve named them ‘scalloped journals’ because the covers are made using scallop-edge cards.

These journals measure 11cm across and 15cm high, and the spine is about 1¼cm.

I folded the card to make a spine, trimmed off an edge and folded the excess card over to make a flap for the closure.

Waxed thread tied to an eyelet in the flap winds around the journal as the closure.

There are 3 signatures of 20 pages each giving a total of 120 sides.

Again, these journals are fairly minimalist with lots of room for writing and adding images with a few pockets.

I’ve used scrapbook papers, liquid ink-dyed and tea-dyed papers, lined notebook paper, and brown packaging paper.

The layouts are the same in the 4 journals, the only difference being the scrapbook papers used.

2 pairs of journals have the same first pages for the 1st and 3rd signatures, but a different first page for the middle signature – hope that makes sense.

Each journal includes a floral word cut-out - ‘Magic’, ‘Believe’, ‘Wish’, and ‘Imagine’.

The images in the journal pockets are scanned images of floral materials I have, including the ones with the fairy images.

I’ve also put together a small ephemera pack for each journal, and the items are all the same – a tissue, 4 Victorian-style butterfly cut-outs, a Malaysian postage stamp, a floral cut-out, 6 squares of Anna Griffin patterned paper, a piece of lace, 4 paper doilies, and a dictionary page.

About the Etsy shop I mentioned last week, I’ve decided to put a pause on that.

When I’d decided to set one up, I thought it was what I wanted to do.

As I’ve been going through the process, watching videos, reading up relevant stuff etc, I began to question just how much I would have to put into running it.

As naïve as that sounds, of course I wasn’t expecting it to run itself.

Making journals and altered books is a hobby for me, not a business.

To be completely honest, I don’t want this to take up all of my time, which means I won’t have as much time to devote to writing or blogging, two things I still really enjoy doing.

Anyway, long story short, for now, I’ve put a pause on the Etsy shop.

And while I’m thinking about what to do with it, I’ll put the journals I’ve made on eBay.

While I’ll be a complete newbie on Etsy, I’ve been on eBay since 2003 and have a reputation on there as a reliable buyer; hopefully that will translate to being a reliable seller.

I’ll make an ‘Announcement’ post when I have these, and the journals I showed last week, up on eBay.

So, that’s the ‘shop’ update.
