Happy New Year!

Well, that was quite the year, following on from 2019!

Looking forward to the best possible, most joyous future for humanity and all the creatures, plant and animal, of our beautiful earth.

I was wondering what piece of music would best suit the way I feel moving forward…

I’ve chosen a song from a Japanese multimedia project called ‘Love Live!’, which is popular not only in Japan but in many other countries too.

It revolves around school idols – school age girls who sing and perform, forming their own musical groups.

Some of what the franchise generates includes video games, music CDs, anime, live concert videos and anime series.

The voice actresses are as popular as the characters and easily sell out huge stadiums for their live concerts.

Anyway, one of the characters is a transfer student from America who’s fluent in English and Japanese, as is her voice actress, Shu Uchida; raised in Australia, she speaks English and Japanese fluently.

Which means she sings in both, English and Japanese.

I love the first song she performed, ‘I’m Still’, not just because it’s a beautiful song but I find the lyrics very meaningful.

As an added bit of inspiration, having decided she wanted to be a voice actress, Shu Uchida, who’s 26, worked to improve her spoken Japanese, saved up to pay her own way working a couple of jobs, and moved to Japan on her own where she eventually realised her dream.
