The Seasons on Display

A couple of years ago, I’d bought a shadow display box to house changeable wall art.

As with most things I buy, I then put it aside and forgot I had it. It wasn’t until the end of last year that I finally dug it out and made that initial idea a reality.

Using two of Graphic 45’s fabulous collections – ‘A Place in Time’ and ‘Seasons’ – I decided to make seasonal displays.

The first one I made was ‘Winter’. The 3 papers (12”x12”) on the left are from the ‘Place in Time’ collection and the one on the right (8”x8”) is from ‘Seasons’.

For the background, I taped together two cereal boxes, which I then covered with wintry-looking wrapping paper.

I used plain cardstock as the base on which to glue the various cut-outs.

When it came time to change the display to ‘Spring’, I carefully removed the wrapping paper from the cereal box backing and put aside the ‘Winter’ display, ready to be used again next year.

I covered the cereal box backing in different wrapping paper.

I did the same thing for ‘Summer’, putting aside the ‘Spring’ display.

For both, ‘Spring’ and ‘Summer’, I used 3D flower stickers in the bottom left corner as real flowers wouldn’t have lasted the 3 months that each display is up.

The wrapping paper I’ve used for the ‘Autumn’ display is from a range by Anna Griffin. I thought it a shame to cover the birds completely, so, using a craft knife, I cut around part of the wings and body and placed the corners of the cardstock under them.

The stick and leaves on the bottom left corner are from the field where Liam looks after the lady’s horse.

I’m rather partial to this display and not just because it includes my birthday month but because autumn is my favourite season.

Come December, I’m thinking of making a Christmas display. Hopefully, the image I have in my mind doesn’t get lost in translation when I get around to making it.
