Updated Book Covers
I published the second edition of my first book, ‘The Cursed Gift’, in 2016, followed soon after by my second book, ‘Moon Goddess’, also in 2016.
I had been toying with the idea of possibly updating the covers and republishing them – the joys of self-publishing – but didn’t take the thought much further.
Recently, I was talking with my best ‘book’ friend, Jennifer. She compared the cover for ‘The Raven and Other Tales’ with that of ‘The Spellbound Spindle’, remarking how similar they looked, giving the impression they’d been published by the ‘same house’.
And that got me seriously thinking about reworking the covers for the first two books to bring them more in line with the third and fourth.
Having had more practice writing back cover descriptions, I realised what I’d written three years ago was woefully inadequate. So, I took the chance to reword them.
As with the cover for ‘The Raven’, I found near-perfect images on Dreamstime. I’m especially pleased with the one for ‘The Cursed Gift’ as that’s what I’d wanted from the start, but back then I couldn’t find anything like it.
Now, looking at my four published books lined up together, I like how they look and I’m glad I went through the back-and-forth with Draft2Digital and Amazon KDP to achieve that look.
