Favourites on Friday - A Few of My Favourite Things ...

Some of my favourite things that I have dotted around the house …

While he was still at college, on one of the daytrips his class did, Gordon bought me this ‘dragon egg’; it’s especially beautiful with the light coming through it, shame the picture doesn’t really do it justice.

When I was in Malaysia in 2007, I bought this dragon glass at Royal Selangor, which manufactures and sells all kinds of things made from pewter, and is the largest of its kind in the world.

I bought this egg ages ago, definitely before I had the boys.  It's called 'The Protector', and the detail on it is stunning.  It is also heavy, weighs over 1lb.

Open it up and ...

This teapot I bought in Hong Kong in 1997 – I remember the year because I was 5 months pregnant with Liam.  It did come with a lid … Gordon, not quite 5 years old, was playing ‘Aladdin’ and decided the teapot would make a great lamp.  Surprise, surprise, the lid fell off and broke.  I was a bit precious about the whole thing back then, but now see it as an adorable memory.

Gordon started an apprenticeship at the beginning of February with Bournemouth Council, working with the parks department.  A couple of weeks ago, while clearing a garden that had a whole load of stuff dumped in it – apparently some quite nice stuff – he found this 'dragonfly', and brought it home for me.
